The ISPO Member Society in the United States was established in 1972.
US ISPO is a resource for the multidisciplinary professionals interested in promoting care of people with physical disabilities in the United States and beyond the geographical borders of the U.S.
US ISPO holds a biennial conference in Hawaii (Pac Rim Conference), and also partners with other professional organizations to advance knowledge through the comprehensive team approach to physical rehabilitation.
US ISPO Statement of Purpose: To lead our professions, through our programs and by example, to a world view that disseminates and fosters knowledge and patient care throughout the world.
To achieve this goal, US ISPO:
- Promotes and facilitates the care of people with physical disabilities world-wide.
- Is a resource for information, materials and expertise by holding educational conferences, sponsoring scholarships, and promoting research.
- Endorses the comprehensive team approach, balancing efforts of a variety of disciplines.
