HS Associate Prosthetist/Orthotist Program
This is a comprehensive full-profile educational program aimed at practitioners who are already on the job, but lack or have no training and/or qualification in prosthetics and orthotics. Graduates of the program are fit to work in both prosthetic and orthotic service provision on the Associate level. The program is divided into 5 modules: LLP, LLO, ULP, ULO and SO, each approximately 6 months long and structured as a combination of online and onsite training. Onsite training is intensive hands-on training organized in form of workshops once per module. Online training is made available to students via e-learning platform that students access from home or work, reducing the need for traveling to a minimum.
Each module finishes with a practical and theoretical exam. These exams are milestones towards fulfilling the conditions for the Final Exam in front of an examination board. Successful graduates acquire Associate Prosthetist/Orthotist certificates from the ISPO.
Human Study Expertise: Blended Learning Training Model
All HS educational programs are taught in blended learning format which is a combination of online-based theoretical teaching, and on-site practical workshop seminars organized at locations close to students (even in their own workshops). This approach enables students in HS programs to acquire training and qualification without having to leave their homes for extended periods of time. At the same time, this approach enables companies and institutions to educate their employees without diminishing the productivity of the company, as the need for traveling and absence from work is minimal compared to conventional training models.
The online part of education is organized through a customized virtual classroom (e-platform) to which students receive individual, password-protected access via Internet. HS didactic approach employs advanced multimedia tools of communication and presentation to yield best learning outcomes. During the online part of education, students study from home or workplace, and do not need to travel.
The practical part of the education is organized in form of practical workshop seminars at centralized locations which are close to students. These workshops are both demonstrative expert trainers demonstrate the practical skills hands-on patients while the students observe; and participative students replicate the demonstrated techniques in the same manner, under the supervision of trainers.
HS methodology puts emphasis on the effective combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills training to prepare graduates for actual work with patients in real-life circumstances.
