The HS Associate Prosthetist/Orthotist (APO) Program is a comprehensive, ISPO-accredited course designed for practitioners with at least three years of experience in the production of prostheses and orthoses. Upon successful completion, graduates earn the internationally recognized ISPO Associate Prosthetist/Orthotist Certificate.

Program Structure
The program spans 2.5 years, divided into five modules, each lasting approximately six months:

  • LLP: Lower Limb Prosthetics
  • LLO: Lower Limb Orthotics
  • ULP: Upper Limb Prosthetics
  • ULO: Upper Limb Orthotics
  • SO: Spinal Orthotics

Module Structure

1. e-Learning:
Students study five subjects per module through a secure e-learning platform:

  • Core subjects: Anatomy, Pathology, Biomechanics, and Professional Practice
  • Electives: Material Technology, Information Technologies, Professional Communication, and Management

The platform allows for flexible learning, with students accessing course materials, assessments, and communication tools remotely.

2. On-Site Workshops:
Each module includes an intensive hands-on workshop. Workshops are designed to complement online theory and include:

  • Practical demonstrations by expert trainers
  • Students replicate techniques, starting with anamnesis and finishing with fitting and
  • troubleshooting
  • Trainers supervise and guide students through the entire process

Examinations and Certification

Module Exams:
Each module concludes with theoretical and practical exams.

Final ISPO Qualification Exam:
At the end of the program, students qualify for a Final ISPO Qualification Exam before an international commission of ISPO examiners. The exam includes:

  • Theoretical Exam: A written test based on knowledge gained throughout the program
  • Practical Exam: A hands-on evaluation of skills in patient management across P&O areas, in alignment with ISPO standards

Graduates who successfully pass the exam receive the ISPO Associate Prosthetist/Orthotist Certificate and formal accreditation.
